BASE STATION ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY

JAYBEAM Wireless has a wide range of base station antennas for cellular 800, GSM900, GSM1800, PCS1900, GSM900/1800, and UMTS2100 frequency bands.

Within these bands JAYBEAM Wireless has developed single-band, wide-band, dual-band and tri-band panel antennas with fixed or adjustable electrical tilt (RET / MET) and both single and wideband omnidirectional antennas, plus antennas for microcell and WLAN applications.

Low visual impact solutions are met with the company’s range of Unicell and Trio products. Historically these antennas have employed printed circuit microstrip technology, which ensures repeatability in high volume production, consistent quality and excellent performance, particularly in intermodulation and pattern shaping.

As a technology leader, JAYBEAM Wireless was an early developer of base station antennas, which have electrically adjustable down tilts and more recently the integration of Mast Head Amplifiers (MHA). Other products include marine antennas, HF and military antennas, PMR antennas, and TETRA antennas.

Our laboratory is equipped with a wide variety of modern test equipment for measuring antennas, transmission lines, filters and RF amplifiers.

FREE SPACE ANTENNA MEASUREMENT RANGES

JAYBEAM Wireless operates first-class antenna measurement facilities. The sites provide a number of fully computerised free-space ranges. High-speed data capture allows the characteristics of an antenna to be characterised on multiple frequencies during a single physical radiation pattern measurement.

NEAR-FIELD MEASUREMENT FACILITIES

Modern cylindrical near-field ranges have been built within JAYBEAM Wireless’ factory areas to provide the quickest and most and accurate method for the characterisation of wireless base-station antennas. Following automated data acquisition, the systems provide for the computation and display of co- and cross-polar azimuth and elevation patterns in a wide variety of formats.

The systems provide results, which agree closely with those, obtained from the free-space ranges and are immune from problems of weather and EMC.

ANECHOIC SCREENED CHAMBER

Purpose-built anechoic screened chambers are available for a variety of measurements. The chambers are large enough to accommodate full-length GSM / Cellular / PCS or UMTS base station antennas and is equipped with power amplifiers, filters, and a spectrum analyser for the measurement of passive intermodulation products down to less than -160dBc.

Computerised facilities are available for rapid pattern measurements on a variety of microcell and other small antennas.

ANTENNA PRODUCTION CAPACITY

JAYBEAM Wireless has an antenna production capacity in the order of 3,000 base station antennas per week. Production flexibility is a key competence for us. Our manufacturing processes have been extensively transformed by the introduction of the Toyota Production System and Lean Manufacturing by implementing Kaizen, a system of continuous improvement. Additional cells is now being added for 3G antenna production.

SHORTEST DELIVERY LEAD TIMES

Through the application of lean manufacturing concepts, JAYBEAM Wireless endeavours to offer the shortest delivery lead times to the market. For standard products JAYBEAM Wireless’s deliveries range from off the shelf to two weeks, depending on current stock levels. This of course depends on quantity, with higher quantity orders extending the lead times. JAYBEAM Wireless works very hard to understand customer requirements and offer the best logistic solutions to satisfy network construction needs.

JAYBEAM operates entirely within the ISO 9001:2000 quality system. Antenna design and manufacturing is controlled by QA procedural documents that define the operating methods.
