Transmission Only have been instructed to sell over 2,500 Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) after its client – a major mobile operator – replaced its technology following a merger with a larger competitor.

The base transceiver stations, which are Nortel S8000 Edge or Edge-enabled (1,800MHz GSM), and Alcatel Evolium 9100 (1,800MHz GSM), are between one and three years old. They are all housed in indoor cabinets, having been taken out of service by qualified engineers over the last few months.

The BTSs will be available in their current configurations, or reconfigured by Transmission Only to suit a buyer's requirement. With an average of six radios to each cabinet and over 10,000 radios on offer, just about all configurations will be possible.

There are huge cost-savings associated with buying redundant equipment, and, as such, operators and vendors have already showed considerable interest in the equipment, keen to benefit from the savings on offer.
