Wideband Coupler for Mobile Communication

For environmental and cost reasons more and more mobile communication facilities are nowadays used by several network operators. The diversity of systems such as GSM900, GSM1800, UMTS or WLAN is an enormous challenge when it comes to selecting the best suited components for combining the signals.

When several signals within the same frequency range are combined it is usually not possible to ensure sufficient signal isolation by filters. The new generation of SPINNER 3 dB directional couplers offers an excellent solution. Our hybrid coupler with a de-coupling value as high as 38 dB can reliably rule out any mutual interference between different systems.

Its extremely broad frequency range from 698 through 2700 MHz does not only support transmission of all standards currently in use, it also includes new systems such as LTE700, LTE2600 or WiMAX.

The 1000 watt input power capacity makes our coupler the ideal equipment for use in multi-operator systems. The low frequency response of the 3.0 +/- 0.4 dB coupling attenuation ensures that all signals are coupled evenly.

The large intermodulation spacing of -160 dBc meets the most exacting requirements for modern mobile communication networks and protects operators from loosing call traffic capacity.

The DC and the AISG path allow operators to feed and control active antennas and antenna pre-amplifiers.

The housing is made of salt water resistant aluminium, minimising the risk of corrosion even under the most unfavourable ambient conditions. Small damage such as scratches or dents on the housing, which may easily caused during mast installation, does not increase the failure risk.

Water tightness acc. to IP65 makes outdoor installation unproblematic. Threaded holes for mounting clamps are provided to facilitate installation on walls or masts. The small size and weight help keep the load on the mast low.

If an application does not need the fourth coupler connection for combining, SPINNER can also deliver this broadband 3 dB coupler as a hybrid combiner with an integrated low-intermodulation termination.
