TETRA Coverage for Tram Line in Portugal

The TETRA communication system for the tram line in Lisbon will be provided by Avitec in cooperation with Siemens in the fall of 2005. Fed by three base stations, Avitec has supplied 12 fiber-fed TETRA repeaters in cabinets that will be installed along the tracks for outdoor coverage. Antennas on relatively low masts were deployed to transmit the signals, leading to easy installation, while keeping the coverage seamless along the tram line tracks. Avitec has worked with Siemens in several projects for deployment of both TETRA and GSM-R coverage.
