Mobile Coverage OnBoard

Avitec has won the contract to provide and install OnBoard Repeaters for mobile coverage in all of Sweden's high speed train wagons (X2000). The order was signed by the Swedish Railway Authorities in collaboration with SJ, TeliaSonera, 3, Tele 2 and Vodafone. There is also an on going discussion for installation of OnBoard Repeaters in other types of trains.
The solution includes coverage for GSM 900, GSM1800, 3G (UMTS) as well as GSM-R for the Railway Authorities. The Repeaters offer coverage in the passenger areas of the wagons by amplifying signals picked up from outside the train for continuous and seamless communication on board the train.
The contract was signed by all parties in October and the equipment and the installation will start beginning of next year and be completed in 200 high speed train wagons called X2000 by end of June 2006.
