Hauppauge, New York - Globecomm Systems, a leading provider of communications infrastructure solutions and services on a global basis, has announced the introduction of a Ka-band version of its 1.2m Auto-Explorer satellite terminal specifically designed for operation with the US Department of Defense Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system. Offering full MIL-STD-188-164A compliance, the 1.2m Ka-band terminal is now undergoing certification testing with expected completion in May 2009. Globecomm is now accepting orders with a 75-90 day timeframe for delivery.
Globecomm's Auto-Explorer terminals provide high bandwidth, two-way transmission designed to meet the challenging demands of military and government agency users with Globecomm's proven performance, quality and reliability. Capable of deploying and acquiring a satellite automatically with the push of a button, the Auto-Explorer terminals support voice, data, VTC, internet access, VPN, LAN-to-LAN, VoIP, military command and control and other applications in remote locations where satellite is the ideal communications solution.
"With the first WGS satellite now operational in the Pacific region and a second one scheduled for in-orbit testing this summer, demand for small, lightweight Ka-band VSAT products is increasing fast," said Globecomm vice-president for government programs, Michael Plourde. "Our ruggedized design for the 1.2m Ka-band Auto-Explorer allows set-up in less than 15min and can support Ku as well as X-band requirements."
Globecomm will be displaying this terminal at the Satellite 2009 exhibition hall in Washington DC. Knowledgeable sales associates will be available to demonstrate the product's capabilities and features.
