Aeroflex Updates Popular 2945 Series Communications Service Monitors to Expand Support for Analog Radio Testing

Aeroflex is announcing at IWCE a pair of new communications service monitors, the 2945B and 2948B, that will bring expanded capability and ease of use to analog radio testing. The new products reinforce Aeroflex’s commitment to product development in support of a key market segment that sustains critical communications services in the analog Private Mobile Radio (PMR) sector.
“Aeroflex is the only major test vendor that actively supports testing of all primary digital and analog PMR systems. Legacy analog radio systems still make up a huge part of the market. These radio communications systems are critical to First Responders and others and in some cases will be used actively well into the next decade, ” said Graham Stevens, product manager, Aeroflex.
2945B and 2948B Add New Features and Options to Support Analog Market
The predecessors to the new 2945B and 2948B communications service monitors have been widely accepted in the market because they are rugged and lightweight (under 25lbs), include a full span spectrum analyzer, a tracking generator with full offset tracking, and can measure accurate power measurements to 150W. They have a frequency range from 400kHz to 1.05GHz. The 2948B includes all the same features as the 2945B but with a low phase noise signal generator added for more critical receiver testing.
The new products have all the same features as the previous models plus added features and five new options to expand the testing capability for radio service and maintenance, base station service and maintenance, and manufacturing test. Key new capabilities include addition of LTR (Logic Trunked Radio) as well as currently available MPT1327/EDACS, greater tracking generator isolation, a seamless RF generator, flexible audio and demodulation filters, an internal battery option allowing up to 60 minutes of field use, a sunlight-readable transflective color display, and extension to the tones capability.
The new options are LTR (available October 1, 2005), Tone Remote, Plus 2 Distortion Notch Filters board, IF Output, and Internal Battery (2945B only).
Availability
The LTR option will be available for order starting 1 October 2005. All other products and options are available for order today. First deliveries for 2945B and 2948B products will be eight and 12 weeks respectively upon receipt of order.
