Ascom QVoice – New Utilities and More Performance than Ever

21 August 2003 15:15

Release 4.1 brings added functionalities further enhancing benefits of the One-System approach for drive-testing and network optimisation.

A suite of new utilities and stepped-up performance spanning the operational platform has been bundled into software release 4.1 bringing a wealth of extra benefits and more versatility to Ascom QVoice users.

Additions in data collection functions range from PESQ/PACE speech quality algorithm selection and WCDMA scanning to ‘real-time trigger/filtering.’ Also included is a new turbo browser while IP data throughput has been enhanced.

Post processing capabilities have also been improved with an active 3G scanner display and a web reporting function integrated. A ‘best of class’ presentation option in the map viewing mode is also new. It takes user defined criteria and the measurements from two networks to automatically visually compare competitive strengths. Superior performance appears in green, whereas poorer results show in red.

Another system enrichment is in the database architecture which has been restructured giving important mobile data parameters their own data table files. This gives QVoice users the flexibility in aggregating test data as well as file searching.

Ascom QVoice hit the market in 1993 as the first system able to use real speech for voice quality measurements, and is now generally recognised as the market leader for mobile network quality optimisation. Building on its early success, QVoice is also now leading the way when it comes to testing and optimising ‘third-generation’ (3G) networks. Like all their predecessors, the latest QVoice models remain the only systems on the market able to measure both voice and data from a single piece of equipment, while performing simultaneous measurements involving different channels, networks and technologies.

The QVoice mobile network quality measurement system is the brainchild of its Carrier Products business unit, part of the company’s Network Integration business division.
