Ascom Carrier Products to introduce, during 3 GSM World Congress 05 in Cannes, France, a suite of enhanced features developed to meet the emerging demands in mobile multimedia quality performance testing.

The QVoice Multimedia system launch covers both video streaming and video telephony and brings a wealth of extra benefits and more versatility to mobile network operators offering these advanced mobile services.
QVoice Video Streaming test assess video quality and provides users with vital Key Performance Indicators. Measurements can be done on any live streaming content - specifically the streams that subscribers really see. This is important for both technical and commercial reasons.
Technically it is a central consideration as different video contents put different demands on network performance, and it is only with real live content - as subscribers actually see - that accurate and truly realistic test information can be evaluated.
Similarly, it is significant commercially because the alternative approach - which eschews the fundamental point of quality testing by using artificial reference streams - does not reflect real subscriber experience.
QVoice’s second multimedia test function focuses on Video telephony: a video telephony bearer test that acknowledges if subscribers have access to offered service; and, more importantly, if the service holds up well under real network conditions. Further expansions will be added which include transmission error tests giving network engineers precise information on the condition of the WCDMA transmission; and the full video telephony test sequence displays the subscribers' experience in terms of video / audio quality.
For both streaming and video telephony tests, air interface engineering data like layer 3 messages are measured and retained helping radio engineers identify and pinpoint problem causes.
