Ascom Mobile Test Solutions

The 7-year-Long Winner

10 March 2003 10:52

The QVoice measurement system, from the Ascom carrier products business unit, is the world leader in cellular network quality tests.

It enables the network operators like Vodafone, Orange, Hutchison, Swisscom and many more to measure the quality of their networks, and fix any problems found. There are now more than a hundred users worldwide --- in Europe, Asia, America, middle East, Australia and Africa.

2002 was the seventh year in a row that QVoice orders have broken all previous records:

QVoice grew quickly in the boom years, mirroring the Nasdaq Telecom index shown. The telecom industry then peaked in 2000, and is now in a low ebb. This adverse environment has led to budget constraints in QVoice customers like network operators and network infrastructure suppliers.

However, despite of the difficult market conditions, QVoice has been able to continuously increase its order income, beating even the previous records in the boom years.

There will be even more excitement this year, with the launch of QVoice – UMTS for measuring 3G networks. On top of the well known features like speech quality and mobile data measurement, QVoice is adding tests for MMS ( multi-media short message), video streaming quality, interworking between the new UMTS and the existing GSM networks etc.

With these new functions, the 3G network operators can test and tune their 3G networks, and make sure that their services will deliver the quality expected from this new technology. Thus, QVoice has tested all generations of cellular networks --- starting from the 1G analogue networks, to 2G GSM and 2.5G GPRS, and now the exciting 3G UMTS.

In the words of one QVoice user: QVoice is a long distance runner, and a long distance winner
