Astellia, a French expert in optimisation systems for the Quality of Service (QoS) and performance management of mobile telephone networks, announces the acquisition of Orange Labs technology. The innovative solution enables automatic QoS diagnosis and optimisation.
A new application with high added value
Developed over the past few years by Orange Labs, the automatic diagnostic and QoS optimisation technology can provide answers to faults identified in networks. It is an expert system, used to automate the diagnosis of quality or performance defects detected in networks by Astellia systems or devices supplied by other players in this sector.
This centralised expertise has a number of benefits for a mobile operator:
- A major increase in the productivity of operational teams facing ever-increasing workloads because of the growth in traffic
- A means of capitalising on the know-how of network experts
- Improved diagnosis and, therefore, better network quality
At the beginning of 2009, after an industrialisation phase, the new tool will be added to the catalogue of optimisation and performance management solutions for the mobile networks proposed by Astellia. In fact, the acquisition of this innovative technology has a two-fold commercial advantage for Astellia, which hopes to:
- Respond to the needs of its 2G and 3G clients by gradually adding to existing solutions
- Capitalise on the advantages of automatic, centralised diagnosis to win new clients
The acquisition of this technology, paid for partly in cash and partly in royalties, based on the turnover generated by it, will not have any significant impact on Astellia’s cashflow which, on 31 December 2007, stood at more than €13 million.
The agreement formalises the long-standing relations between Astellia and Orange Labs, and is an extension of Astellia’s aim to continuously extend its product range by using the experience of a leading operator.
