CTS Announces the Release of a Leading Edge Point-to-Multipoint Module for ELLIPSE Microwave Planning, its Backhaul Design and Optimisation Solution

BERLIN, Germany, 9 May 2006 - CTS is a leading provider of network planning, optimisation and spectrum management solutions.
CTS has taken a definitive leadership position in the last two years in the microwave backhaul planning market through successful implementation of projects with major cellular operators, as well as with network equipment vendors (NEC, Siemens, O2, Vodafone, AT&T, T-Mobile, Telcel, Celtel).
Thanks to the valuable input of customers who invest heavily in research and development, CTS is pleased to offer the market an innovative solution to support the upcoming deployment of massive point-to-multipoint backhaul technologies.
Applying the mature LMDS technology in the backhaul has many advantages such as the usage of additional spectrum, the significant reduction in the number of antennas on a given roof, capacity overbooking, and its easier deployment.

Thanks to a close collaboration with Hughes Network Systems, LLC, CTS is able to support the advanced features of Hughes' AB9400 LMDS product. "We are pleased that CTS has undertaken to enhance the PMP capabilities of ELLIPSE by incorporating the parameters of the Hughes AB9400 LMDS product. The integration of the point-to-multipoint planning module into the core point-to-point planning tool will simplify RF planning by use of a single platform," said Vinay Patel, senior marketing director for the Broadband Carrier Network Division of Hughes.
In addition, the use of ELLIPSE Microwave Planning has a proven track record of enabling operators to increase engineering productivity by up to 40%, while securing QOS and efficient spectrum usage.
