Cherokee Europe, a leading manufacturer of custom and standard power supplies, announces a low profile, 1U version of its CAR Rectifier series for telecom and networking devices. The CAR0548 rectifier delivers 500W and is designed to deliver highly reliable bulk power to distributed power architectures and DC-DC systems used in optical routing equipment, enterprise networks and wireless applications.

Measuring only 40,5mm x 86mm x 259mm / (1.59in x 3.38in x 10.21in), the CAR0548 provides approximately 550W per litre at a typical efficiency of 85%. The rectifier comes in two versions: offering 10.4A at +48V as a front-end power supply or 9.25A @ -54V when used for telecom and battery charging applications.

The wide-range, universal-input CAR0548 comes with integrated redundant diodes and a thermally controlled fan enabling operation from -40°C to 70°C, ideal for uncontrolled environments such as wireless applications. Additional features include hot swap capability, fault redundancy, active load sharing, output voltage programming, current readout, remote on/off and front plate LEDS. Protection features on the rectifier include input over and under voltage, output over voltage, over temperature and over current.

An accompanying racking system, the ACE05 rack comes in a four-module redundant hot swap configuration offering flexibility and scalability to 2,000W. The full featured ACE05 rack comes equipped with a low voltage disconnect (LVD) and controller with universal power-monitoring functions and a comprehensive set of alarms and status indicators for the exchange of system-monitoring data with the end user.
