Cherokee International Launches 3,000W Redundant Integrated Energy System with Upgradeable System Supervisor

15 November 2004 15:59

Cherokee has launched the full production of its latest energy system based on three rectifiers 1500W constant power. The system includes battery connection, protection against deep discharge, and a controller unit.

Fully Featured for All Applications

The units are perfect solutions to both indoor and outdoor applications and offer a wide range of features to improve control of the system. Beyond the traditional voltage programming, AC and DC fault control, the unit is equipped with a smart de-rating of the power in regard to internal temperature. Signals include thermal shutdown, AC mains range detection (low or high), over- voltage and module-missing, offering great flexibility of system configuration.

Control of Operation

An embedded controller unit enables monitoring and control of rectifiers redundancy, bus voltage and current measurement, mains presence, battery temperature and a number of digital inputs such as breakers, intrusion and fire alarms. This basic but very complete package can be upgraded at any time with a battery management package and even a communication card, allowing remote communication on TCP/IP. All modules have been designed to be easily field configurable and replaceable.

Excellent Reliability

The rectifiers are designed to work in parallel. Active single wire sharing ensures a very good load share among units. A redundancy diode on the output allows for hot swap fault-tolerant insertion. Each unit is protected against input under- and over-voltage up to 300Vac, output over-voltage, smart output power limitation and over-temperature. The system features protection against reverse polarity of battery connection and against deep discharge.

Fit for Worldwide Usage

The units feature a universal input with active PFC and are certified against all major worldwide requirements: UL, CSA and CE marking.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

The modules do not require any procedure or tools for installation in the rack. The LCD screen and several LEDs on the front plate allow rapid detection of operation and faults making system maintenance very simple.
