A first major deployment of xDSL fiber to the curb network with remote powering systems has been launched with the solution from Cherokee International.
The fast development of the broadband services market with hi-bandwidth demand will require the deployment of street cabinets including the DSLAM, optical fibre, distribution feed and, of course, the power system.
In order to provide high reliability of services while avoiding the installation and high cost of numerous power sites, each time involving an expensive AC protected connection and often a battery back-up, Cherokee has designed a system to power equipment in the street from a system located in the COE. Tested and approved by several operators’ labs, the remote power system is now in full production, with deployment of several hundreds of sites in the street.
Broadband services market demand is expected to be very high in the coming years and will require major investment in the networks to increase access to bandwidth. An application where Cherokee has taken the lead.
