Wireless communication implies the usage of electromagnetic waves. Currently, various technologies are in use in business environments - infrared or Bluetooth are used for communications over small distances, DECT or WiFi on a larger scale, and GSM or UMTS for regional coverage. For voice communication, Bluetooth will usually only be used to ensure communication between a handset and a headset.
Low Power GSM (LPGSM) has been designed especially to address the needs of covering indoor environments. In Europe, the emission power of GSM antenna is highly regulated. The outdoor antenna placed by public network operators (PLMNs) are limited in terms of power emission.
